100 Random Things About Me
I’m jumping on the “100 things about me” bandwagon. Every other blogger seems to be doing it, why not me! It gives me something to do and you something to read, or ignore. Which ever floats your boat!
1. I have two cats: Seven and Voodoo. Voodoo is mischeivious. Seven is rather fatfluffy. She also doesn’t meow – no, she squeaks. I’m trying to record this to prove it to the world.
2. I think the episode of My Name Is Earl when Earl is helping a cat do aerobics to get back into shape is adorable.
3. I’m not a big fan of Jell-O. If I eat it, I’ll only eat the orange kind.
4. I will cry when Scrubs ends. It’s the only show I really get excited about even though this season has been pretty disappointing.
5. I don’t like my handwriting. It changes often. If my life ever depended on the similarity between my signatures, I’d be dead.
6. I used to be a figure skater. I entered one competition, fell, and was too embarrassed to join any more.
7. The first CD I ever owned was Michael Bolton. That was followed by Neil Diamond.
8. When I’m nervous, I bite the skin around my nails. I don’t like biting my nails because the feeling of the nail in between my teeth makes me cringe. Ew. I also ramble a lot about absolutely nothing. My face turns bright red and my chest and neck get splotchy. Oh I’m loads of fun!
9. I’m addicted to bags and purses. Not even expensive designer bags. Just random ones. I change my purse every few weeks depending on my mood, work load or just to warrant owning so many.
10. I’m rarely seen without my cell phone. I don’t know what I’d do without it. I’m always texting, checking email, sometimes even IM’ing. Usually I just enjoy taking stupid pictures and sending them to friends.
11. I only drink coffee if I can’t taste the coffee. Caribou Coffee does a great job of hiding the coffeeness, especially if there is caramel involved.
12. My mom took me to get my belly pierced and my first tattoo. I now have 5 tattoos. See what she started?
13. I’m French-Canadian, but I enjoy making fun of my grandmother who still has a heavy accent from Quebec. When she says “African” it sounds like Ah-free-kin.
14. I love bright colors, stripes and polka-dots.
15. If I ever wound up in a Spanish-speaking country, I could take comfort in the fact that I could ask where my pants are, where the library is and that I like eating cheese in the library.
16. I’ve been to five colleges. I graduated for the first time on January 5, 2008.
17. I have a strange fascination with serial killers. Fun fact: John Wayne Gacy didn’t live too far away from me.
18. If I had a theme song, it would be “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. Though I’d much rather have a soundtrack to my life than just one song.
19. I use 3-4 calendars at any one time: One on my wall above the computer, one on my phone, a planner in my purse (which is color coordinated by the way) and sometimes the one on my computer.
20. I’m addicted to Wii bowling. I’m a pro.
21. My last 4 relationships have either started as or ended up as a long-distance relationship. My last one has lasted 16-ish months and two states. I hope one day to have a relationship with somebody in the same state so we can fight in person.
22. People who complain about not seeing their significant other for a few days or weeks really irritate me.
23. Borders and IKEA will put me in debt. Oh, and school. I’d be a professional student if I could.
24. I’m an only child but have a half-brother and half-sister I’ve never met.
25. I keep a more private/personal journal over at LiveJournal. I’ve been trying to make this blog a bit more personal without giving away too many intimate details about my relationships and emotions. (Not anymore!)
26. I love buying organizational products, planners, notebooks, etc. Staples is like Disney World to me. Sad eh?
27. I keep my credit cards locked up in a little black box.
28. I’ve moved 16 times since I was born and I’m working on move number 17.
29. I have an unhealthy obsession with Pop-Tarts.
30. I’m ridiculously impatient. Once I decide to do something, I won’t rest until it is finished.
31. Number 30 makes it possible to be completely unpacked on moving day.
32. I love getting rid of things I don’t use. I can’t stand clutter. I’m constantly sorting through, rearranging, throwing out and donating my belongings. My mom thinks I’m not her daughter because of this.
33. I really wish I spoke another language.
34. I want to change the world.
35. My favorite band is Guster. I’ve never seen them live. I’m always a day or two early or late. For example, when I’m in Chicago, they’re in Boston. When I’m in Boston, they’re in Chicago, etc.
36. I’m incredibly open with my emotions. I have no hang ups when it comes to expressing myself. I can be very vulnerable and exposed in front of strangers. However, I cry almost always when I’m discussing my emotions. That gets annoying.
37. I used to write obituaries for a newspaper.
38. I am a HUGE anatomy buff. I love anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. I have several anatomy books lining my book shelf including one that’s over 2 feet tall! I also have a replica human brain sitting on top of my book shelf. It fascinates me.
39. I had a crush on Axel Rose when I was younger. I saw the music video for “November Rain” on TV and fell in love.
40. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to germs, hangers, writing notes, frames and organization. Oh, worries, too.

43. I wish a guy would move for me for once.

45. I’ve never been to a costume party or dressed up for Halloween since high school.

47. My grandpa is my hero.
48. I wish I were more outgoing. I’m very shy and easily intimidated.
49. I wish I had more girlfriends. I’d like to have girl’s nights and go shopping with somebody who could tell me if I look stupid or cute.
50. I’m 24 years old. My body feels 50. My mind feels 80. My spirit feels 6.
51. I have a not-so-secret obsession with LOL Cats.
52. Some of the best candy I’ve eaten was from Iceland.
50. I get bored easily. I like to do a few things at a time. It helps me not be so restless.
51. I’m neurotic. I admit this. Feel free to not point it out.
52. I can watch the same movie over and over.
53. I believe my cats can understand everything I say, they just choose to do the complete opposite.
54. I wish I would have taken the SAT. My high school only required us to take the ACT. Back then I didn’t think it’d be important. Hindsight is 20/20 eh?
55. I love smelling the inside of books. I make it a point to get who ever is around me to smell them as well.
56. I wish I knew myself better.
57. I love loud, colorful and flamboyant items. But at the same time, I don’t like attention on me. I tend to hide behind one crazy item. For example, when I was feeling uncomfortable in a nice black dress for graduation, I wore my bright, striped rain boots on stage.
58. I rarely drink pop (it’s pop by the way, not soda). I gave it up a few years ago.
59. I don’t think I look like anybody famous.
60. In high school my girlfriend and I would pass notes to each other. If I ran out of things to say, I would start writing lyrics to Master P, Lil Wayne and Tupac songs. Don’t even ask about that one…
61. I want to walk/run in the Breast Cancer 3-Day.
62. I’ve never been part of a marathon before. I don’t even run.
63. I want to practice yoga regularly, but I never seem to stick with a routine.
64. I want to send a message in a bottle.
65. I cannot make sense of decimals, percentages or fractions for the life of me. I get nervous even thinking about multiplying fractions.
66. I want to have breakfast in Paris and dinner in New York on the same day.
67. I want to be part of that couple…the giggly, fun couple with sparkling eyes, lots of laughter and trouble keeping their hands off one another when my hair is gray and his is gone.
68. I hope to attend and successfully graduate from a college that will help me learn more about myself, my interests and how to use what I know to be somebody useful and beneficial to society.
69. As an almost-licensed massage therapist, I think it’s sad that I’ve never had a professional massage.
70. I have an unhealthy love for tacos and nachos.
71. I have a texture issue. I love chocolate pudding, but hate butterscotch pudding. Love the taste, but for whatever reason, the texture is entirely different. Or the texture doesn’t match the taste. This goes the same for hummus, guacamole and most dips.
72. I wish I could tan. I am a member of the sun burn kids club.
73. I met Jim Belushi and Dan Aykroyd at Wal-Mart. Dan called me “doll face” and I felt uncomfortable.
74. When I’m sick, I don’t say “my back hurts” or “my arms hurt.” I seem to use anatomically correct names: “my trapezius hurts!”
75. I have a note inside of my wallet that I keep behind my license in case something happens to me. It has phone numbers of those near and dear (boyfriend, best friend and parents) and a little note for each of them.
76. I get so mad about my LDR sometimes and take it out on the boyfriend because in my mind, he is the only thing stopping us from being together.
77. After drinking, I like to refer to the “buzzed” feeling as “the wind going through me.” I was feeling the wind this past Friday!
78. Peanut butter and strawberry sandwiches are my favorite food. I could eat PBJ for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
79. There were probably a total of 10 days in all my eight years of grammar school that I didn’t have PBJ. The same goes for high school as well.
80. If I notice something out of place, I cannot ignore it. It will bother me until I fix it.
81. While reading through this, I noticed the quote symbols where an apostrophe should be. I tried to leave it. But no…I came back and searched through the list again so I could fix it.

86. I never struggle to find a book I’ll like. It really only takes me 10 minutes to find a stack of books I’ll love.
87. When I was in seventh or eighth grade I wanted to dye my hair. My mom had me try lightening it naturally first. We tried lemon juice in the shampoo and then tried mayo in the hair. I smelled like a lemon-y potato salad for days.
88. My favorite starbursts are orange and pink.
89. I have so much fun with dry erase boards.
90. My blog name was taken from a Rilo Kiley song titled Does He Love You. She wrote that she was flawed if she was not free. I’m free and flawed. (I think she was referring to being single though, where as I’m talking about freedom – we’re still prisoners of ourselves. I’d like to blame my fear and anxieties for that!)
91. I talk to a counselor usually twice a month just to vent and talk about my life to someone who is not bias. I’ve been talking to the same one for almost 6 years.
92. I joined a sorority while at WIU. I wanted to belong to something, but soon found out that it just wasn’t for me. Everything you read in “Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities” Alexandra Robbins is completely true about sororities.
93. I try to make myself feel better by saying “we had the highest academic scores on campus.” But we were also on probation for drinking and allegedly “making” pledges sleep with guys at our partnering frat house.

95. I have a placemat, hand towel and oven mitt hanging on my wall.
96. I get uncomfortable during super sappy parts of movies.
97. I put notes in my boss’ desk drawers saying “Every time you mess this up, Jenn cries.” I include a stick figure rendition of myself crying.
98. I wish I read more books. I’m going to try to complete 50 by the end of 2008.
99. I wish my house was haunted. Sometimes I feel like I have a ghost following me around. But I think that’s just an excuse to cover up my paranoia.
100. It took me way too long to think of 100 random facts about myself.

Very nice! I was wondering, since I’m a bit blog stupid at the moment on WordPress, how do you get the stuff along the sides for your Blogroll and whatnot. I can’t seem to get that to work.
Benny and Joon! LOVE IT!
So, Sia? You should see her. Because seriously? She is fantastic!! I mean, I know she’s sold out in Chicago but I don’t believe in such nonsense. Sold out, schmold out. Try hopping over to the venue, because there’s *always* someone hawking tickets last minute and omg you must MUST must see this woman live.

HAH. Read your second comment on this entry. Totally called it way back in November. We rule.
I’m moving to Chicago/the area in July. Any hints on the good cities?
Or suburbs should I say.
I have to agree with Hammy – the glasses are fab. Love the blog too, but why would you want to shave your cat? lol.
Now here goes with another shameless plug.

I’ve never met anyone else who refers to Benny & Joon as a favorite movie! Love it. I guess I’ll have to put it on my netflix for when you and Jamie come test out the guest room. (Yeah, I lost that DVD in the breakup of 2005. Not fair.)
